Job Title: Business Operations Consultant, R&D Data Science & Digital Health
We are seeking a Business Operations Consultant to support our R&D Data Science & Digital Health team. In this role, you will be responsible for developing and implementing planning cycles, leading business planning & budget management efforts, driving process improvement initiatives, and contributing to the development of project management best practices. You will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including data scientists, researchers, and business leaders, to ensure that processes are optimized, strategic goals are achieved, and project outcomes are successful.
Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement a strategic planning cycle, including processes for regular review and revision of strategic plans, alignment with organizational goals, and measurement of progress.
- Lead process improvement initiatives to optimize business operations, ensure efficient project execution, and continuously improve project delivery effectiveness.
- Work with cross-functional teams to map out project processes, identify bottlenecks, and develop solutions for process optimization and improvement.
- Develop and implement comprehensive budgeting strategies to effectively manage financial resources within specified guidelines.
- Collaborate with department heads to forecast budgetary needs and allocate resources appropriately to meet organizational objectives.
- Analyze budget variances and provide recommendations for adjustments to maintain fiscal responsibility and achieve financial targets.
- Prepare regular budget reports and presentations for senior management, highlighting key financial metrics and areas of concern or improvement.
- Develop and implement project management best practices and tools to enhance project delivery efficiency and effectiveness.
- Contribute to the development of strategic plans by providing data-driven insights and recommendations based on process development expertise and understanding of organizational goals.
- Participate in team meetings, workshops, and brainstorming sessions to identify opportunities for process improvement and strategic planning.
- Develop and maintain project documentation, including project plans, status reports, and presentations for internal and external stakeholders.
- Collaborate with data scientists, researchers, and business leaders to ensure alignment of project goals with overall business objectives.
- Conduct training sessions for team members on process improvement and project management best practices.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field, such as science, process management, strategic planning, business administration, or related disciplines
- Experience in strategic planning, process management, process improvement, and project management, contract management, preferably in the field of life sciences R&D, data science or a related field.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a data-driven approach to decision-making.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to communicate complex concepts clearly and concisely.
- Proficiency in project management software and tools, such as Microsoft Project, Asana, or similar platforms.
- Ability to develop and implement a strategic planning cycle, including the ability to develop and execute a roadmap for the planning process.
- Strong process orientation with the ability to analyze, map, and optimize project processes to increase efficiency and effectiveness.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
- Knowledge of data science concepts and methodologies is a plus.
Preferred:
- Focused degree in Biology, Biochemistry, Microbiology, Chemistry or related field preferred
- Prior consulting experience, particularly in the areas of financial analysis, budget management, or strategic planning, with a reputable consulting firm or equivalent experience in a corporate environment.
- Knowledge of Pharma R&D process is a plus
