As one of the first members of this team, you will work directly with the subject matter experts who built the original application, as well as business users, to analyze, model, and migrate data, build ingestion pipelines, and implement medallion architecture transformations using Python and PySpark. This is a remote, contract role that offers high visibility, direct access to key stakeholders, and real ownership of end-to-end solutions. You will help shape the foundation of a growing data team within a modern Azure environment, supporting data governance and collaborating closely with business and technical partners.<\/p>\n<h3><\/h3>\n<h3>WHAT YOU&#8217;LL DO<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>Migrate data from on-premises Oracle and IBM DataStage systems to Databricks on Azure<\/li>\n<li>Design and build data ingestion pipelines and silver-layer transformations using Python and PySpark within a medallion (bronze\/silver\/gold) architecture<\/li>\n<li>Work directly with business users and subject matter experts to gather requirements, clarify needs, and translate them into effective data solutions<\/li>\n<li>Analyze and model source data, determining which data elements are needed and how they relate<\/li>\n<li>Monitor, troubleshoot, and resolve issues in data pipelines, including failures, data quality, and performance problems<\/li>\n<li>Support and implement data governance practices across the new cloud platform<\/li>\n<li>Manage code using Git and participate in team-based workflows<\/li>\n<li>Contribute to the foundation and growth of the new data team as additional full-time staff are hired<\/li>\n<li>Own problems end-to-end, from initial stakeholder conversations through to production-ready pipelines<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3>WHAT YOU BRING<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>Hands-on data engineering experience, including data modeling and integrating data from multiple sources<\/li>\n<li>Strong SQL skills<\/li>\n<li>Proficiency in Python and PySpark<\/li>\n<li>Experience with Python-based orchestration tools<\/li>\n<li>Git version control<\/li>\n<li>Databricks experience (strongly preferred)<\/li>\n<li>Experience across the full development lifecycle, from requirements through delivery, with ownership beyond just delivery team participation<\/li>\n<li>Strong communication skills and a track record of working directly with business stakeholders to understand and solve their problems<\/li>\n<li>Natural curiosity and willingness to dig into data and answer foundational questions<\/li>\n<li>Experience migrating data from on-prem platforms (Oracle, IBM DataStage, or similar ETL tools) to the cloud (nice to have)<\/li>\n<li>Apache Airflow experience (nice to have)<\/li>\n<li>Familiarity with financial data (claims, dollars, payments) or healthcare data (nice to have)<\/li>\n<li>Data governance experience (nice to have)<\/li>\n<li>Azure data services experience (Azure Databricks, ADLS, Data Factory) (nice to have)<\/li>\n<li>Familiarity with Power BI as a downstream reporting consumer (nice to have)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3>WHAT&#8217;S IN IT FOR YOU<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>High visibility and real ownership as an early member of a new data team<\/li>\n<li>Direct access to the subject matter experts who built the original system<\/li>\n<li>A long-term contract on a modern Databricks\/Azure stack<\/li>\n<li>Opportunity to help shape the foundation and culture of a growing data team<\/li>\n<li>Work on a business-critical, finance-focused application in the healthcare sector<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>#LI-CM1<\/p>\n<\/h4>\n","protected":false},"author":0,"featured_media":774,"template":"","meta":{"inline_featured_image":false,"_promoted":"","_job_location":"Bloomington, Minnesota","_application":"applications@staffingfuture.com","_company_name":"Medasource","_company_website":"","_company_tagline":"","_company_twitter":"","_company_video":"","_filled":0,"_featured":0,"_remote_position":0,"_job_salary":"","_job_salary_currency":"","_job_salary_unit":""},"job-types":[15],"class_list":["post-4132","job_listing","type-job_listing","status-publish","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","job-type-contract"],"yoast_head":"<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO plugin v28.6 - https:\/\/yoast.com\/product\/yoast-seo-wordpress\/ -->\n<title>Data Engineer, Bloomington Minnesota<\/title>\n<meta name=\"description\" content=\"Data Engineer, Bloomington Minnesota - - Search the latest jobs from Medasource.
