Job Description

Job Title: Surgical Coding Auditor & Senior Revenue Integrity Educator (Contract)

Overview

  • Seeking an experienced Senior Surgical Coding Auditor and Rev Integrity Educator to support our clients growing surgical revenue integrity team. This is a 12‑month, full-time contract role focused primarily on independent surgical coding and documentation audits, along with targeted provider education and consulting. The ideal candidate is a seasoned auditor who thrives without handholding, brings strong surgical coding expertise (Otolaryngology (ENT), Urology, OB/GYN ,Spine, Neurosurgery, Orthopedic, Plastic), and can quickly adapt to new specialties and audit scenarios.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct comprehensive coding and documentation audits for surgical services across inpatient and/or outpatient settings.
  • Independently manage audit workload with minimal supervision
  • Identify documentation deficiencies, coding errors, and revenue risk areas; provide clear and actionable feedback.
  • Deliver provider education, one-on-one or in group settings, focused on compliant coding, documentation practices, and audit findings.
  • Collaborate with clinical and operational leaders to improve accuracy, compliance, and revenue integrity.
  • Utilize Epic for audit workflows, encounter review, and reporting.
  • Maintain thorough audit documentation and participate in team meetings as needed.
  • Work a flexible Monday–Friday schedule, with availability for provider meetings.

 

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of surgical coding and compliance auditing experience (inpatient, outpatient, or both).
  • Strong hands-on experience with surgical coding (not required to know every specialty but must be able to learn and adapt quickly).
  • Prior experience conducting independent audits with minimal oversight.
  • Epic experience highly preferred.
  • CPC Required
  • Relevant coding certifications (CCS, CIC, CPMA, etc.) strongly preferred.
  • Excellent communication skills, especially in delivering provider education and explaining audit findings.

 

Role Details

  • Contract Type: Strict contractor; 12-month contract
  • Reason for Opening: Team expansion and need for senior-level audit support
  • Team Size: Join a team of 3 full-time employees
  • Schedule: Flexible M–F hours; must be available for provider meetings
