ABOUT THE ROLE
Join one of the largest nonprofit, faith-based healthcare systems in the United States, formed through the merger of two major Catholic health systems. Our client operates a vast network of hospitals, clinics, and care sites across multiple states, focusing on delivering patient-centered care, advancing health equity, and reinvesting in communities through charitable services and population health initiatives.
As a CE-IT Biomedical Engineer, you will play a critical role in supporting and optimizing the integration of medical devices with healthcare IT systems. This position bridges clinical engineering and information technology, ensuring the safe, secure, and efficient connectivity of biomedical equipment across the organization. You will work closely with clinical staff, IT, cybersecurity, and vendors to maintain device interoperability, system performance, and regulatory compliance. The work environment includes both onsite hospital support and remote system management.
WHAT YOU’LL DO
- Manage and support integration of biomedical devices with clinical applications (EMR/EHR, device integration platforms, middleware systems).
- Troubleshoot and resolve device connectivity, network, and interface issues across clinical environments.
- Collaborate with IT and cybersecurity teams to ensure medical device security, risk mitigation, and compliance with organizational policies.
- Configure, maintain, and upgrade device integration platforms (e.g., Capsule, Cerner CareAware, Philips IntelliBridge).
- Support implementation and optimization of clinical systems and device interoperability initiatives.
- Perform system validation, testing, and documentation for new device integrations or upgrades.
- Maintain accurate asset inventory, network documentation, and integration records.
- Provide support for go-lives, upgrades, and clinical system rollouts.
- Partner with vendors and internal stakeholders to resolve technical issues and improve system performance.
- Ensure compliance with regulatory standards (e.g., HIPAA, FDA, Joint Commission).
WHAT YOU BRING
- Bachelor’s degree in Biomedical Engineering, Information Technology, or related field (or equivalent experience).
- 2–5+ years of experience in clinical engineering, biomedical equipment, or healthcare IT.
- Hands-on experience with medical device integration and networking concepts (TCP/IP, VLANs, wireless networks).
- Familiarity with HL7, integration engines, and device interoperability platforms preferred.
- Knowledge of cybersecurity principles related to medical devices.
- Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills across hardware and software environments.
- Excellent communication skills; ability to work cross-functionally with clinical and technical teams.
- Experience with major EMR systems (Epic, Cerner, etc.) preferred.
- Certifications such as CBET, CompTIA Network+, or Security+ are a plus.
- Exposure to clinical environments (ICU, OR, patient monitoring systems) preferred.
- Experience supporting large-scale device deployments or health system integrations is advantageous.
WHAT’S IN IT FOR YOU
- Opportunity to work with a leading nonprofit healthcare system committed to community health and patient-centered care.
- Engage in meaningful work that bridges clinical engineering and IT, impacting patient safety and care quality.
- Collaborative environment with cross-functional teams and exposure to advanced healthcare technologies.
- Potential for contract-to-hire conversion and long-term career growth.
- Combination of onsite hospital support and remote system management for a dynamic work experience.
