Job Description

Job Title: Security Compliance Documentation Analyst – Cloud Solutions Team

Location: Remote (Employee must live and work in an EST location)

Start Date: 11/17/2025

Duration: 6-Month Contract to Hire

ABOUT THE ROLE

Join the frontier of pediatric healthcare research innovation at the Office of Data Sciences of Nationwide Children’s Hospital. We are a mission-driven team leveraging big data and AI to deliver real-world breakthroughs for children’s health. As a Security Compliance Documentation Analyst on our Cloud Solutions Team, you will be the cornerstone of our security posture, ensuring our AWS environment meets rigorous compliance standards such as NIST SP 800-171. Your work will directly enable our scientists and researchers to innovate securely by translating complex technical controls into clear, audit-ready documentation that underpins our entire research platform. This remote, EST-based role offers the opportunity to collaborate with technical teams, develop and maintain compliance artifacts, gather and organize technical evidence, and track remediation activities in support of pediatric healthcare research.

WHAT YOU’LL DO

  • Collaborate with cloud engineers, developers, and security teams to document AWS configurations, security architectures, and implemented controls, turning technical processes into clear, compelling compliance narratives
  • Develop, update, and maintain comprehensive compliance documentation in alignment with NIST SP 800-171 control requirements for all AWS-hosted systems and services
  • Collect and organize technical evidence from AWS services (such as IAM, Config, CloudTrail, GuardDuty, Security Hub, and KMS) to support control validation and track remediation progress
  • Meticulously track and document remediation activities identified in security assessments and audits, ensuring timely updates and accurate status reporting to stakeholders
  • Lead the ongoing annual audit of all security-related controls and standards, ensuring evidence is current, accurate, and aligned with internal and external compliance expectations
  • Create and manage standardized templates and documentation processes to ensure consistent, high-quality compliance artifacts across all AWS environments
  • Communicate effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders to ensure a clear understanding of AWS compliance documentation and support ongoing gap analyses and internal reviews

WHAT YOU BRING

  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Communications, or related field
  • 2+ years of professional experience in technical writing, IT audit, or security compliance, preferably within a cloud environment
  • Strong understanding of security compliance frameworks, especially NIST SP 800-171
  • Proven experience drafting, organizing, and maintaining security documentation such as policies, procedures, SSPs, POA&Ms, risk assessments, audit reports, and control mappings
  • Ability to interpret technical details from engineers and translate them into compliance-aligned, non-technical documentation
  • Familiarity with AWS core services and security concepts
  • Exceptional writing, editing, and organizational skills with a high level of attention to detail
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills—clear, precise, and tailored for both technical and non-technical stakeholders
  • Strong collaboration skills and ability to work across security, engineering, legal, and operations teams
  • Self-starter with a proactive attitude and commitment to continuous learning in the evolving field of cybersecurity and compliance
  • Preferred: AWS certification (e.g., Cloud Practitioner), experience in a healthcare or research setting, and familiarity with GRC (Governance, Risk, and Compliance) tools
