Job Function Summary:
Involves managing technical projects with a defined beginning and end. Manages the project’s framework processes and methodologies involving departmental or cross-functional teams. Plans, coordinates, and monitors scope, requirements, schedules, budgets, resources, tasks, risks, staff, and deliverables. Monitors the project from initiation through completion. Organizes and leads activities relating to the management and completion of projects.
Generic Scope:
Recognized organization-wide expert. Has a significant impact and influence on organizational policy and program development. Regularly leads projects of critical importance to the organization; these projects carry substantial consequences of success or failure. Directs programs with organization-wide impact (or may have impact beyond the University) that include formulating strategies and administering policies, processes, and resources. Significant barriers to entry exist at this level.
Custom Scope:
The ERP Project Manager uses advanced technical project management frameworks and methods, aligned with Campus and CLIENT Health objectives, to plan and execute projects in the enterprise administrative application domain (Finance, HR, Student Systems). The ERP Project Manager is an experienced technical/functional professional who can resolve complex issues by analyzing situations or data and evaluating multiple factors. The Project Manager determines the methods, techniques, and evaluation criteria for obtaining results. He manages projects of broad and diverse scope, size, impact, budget, and project team size, with considerable impact on the organization.
The ERP Project Manager will manage the entire project lifecycle of a major re-implementation of our ERP ecosystem, from project definition through implementation and post-implementation support. This project covers the transition to the new ERP platform, along with the development of custom functionality, reporting, interfaces, and other applications and middleware to replace previous customizations and end-of-life business systems that comprise the enterprise systems environment. The person in this role will be accountable for ensuring the project meets the agreed-upon scope, cost, schedule, and quality measures.
The position requires extensive administrative systems experience, a thorough understanding of the interdependencies among systems and processes, knowledge of higher-education and medical entities’ financial and administrative needs, and strong leadership, communication, and project management skills to identify and resolve issues, develop deliverables and timelines, manage stakeholder expectations, and handle post-deployment adjustments.
Key Responsibilities:
- Applies advanced project management techniques and leads complex research and studies for internal department and external campus, medical center, or Office of the President constituencies. Regularly leads analyses determining approaches, sources of data, methods, techniques, and evaluation criteria to obtain project results. Leads highly complex assessments of needs and technical tool deployment strategies; works closely with leads, managers, functional owners, control points,s and technical partners to ensure data, processes, and tools meet current and anticipated CLIENT future needs.
- Manages the project management process for CLIENT administrative ERP products and services with broad campuswide, medical center, Office of the President/institution-wide, and/or multi-institutional scope. Directs and analyzes project proposals and reports.
- Guides other Project Leads/managers. Directs, initiates, and designs projects critical to the campus, medical center, or Office of the President. Has overall project management responsibility for broad, campus-wide, medical center or Office of the President, institution-widand/oror multi-institutional projects. Assembles and directs large project teams, designs highly detailed and complex project plans and schedules, and may oversee budget and resources. Oversees all aspects of large projects from initiation through delivery, including system integration, communications, vendor interaction, and risk management. Organizes interdepartmental or multi-institutional activities to complete the project on schedule and within budget. May lead a team of technical project management professionals.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs):
- Requires expert, demonstrated knowledge of project management principles, theories, and concepts. (Req)
- Previous leadership of at least one company-wide ERP implementation or similar large-scale, multiyear cross-functional systems integration and implementation project. (Req)
- Experience/knowledge of major ERP and HCM platforms (e.g., PeopleSoft, Oracle, Workday). (Req)
- Ability to understand and work with complex and challenging business processes and technical environments. (Req)
- Working knowledge of technology-related initiatives and an understanding of the impact on the organization. (Req)
- Demonstrated capacity to anticipate obstacles and plan for contingencies; attention to detail; ability to determine relevance and prioritize tasks. (Req)
- Demonstrated effective writing skills. (Req)
- Proven leadership ability; effective problem-solving skills; persuasive communication. (Req)
- Demonstrated competency in selecting and implementing project management methods and techniques; skill at tracking effort and project progress; strong conceptual and planning skills. (Req)
- Experienced mentor and leader of teams with experience leading technology professionals. (Req)
- Advanced knowledge of computing and communications, including hardware infrastructure, networking, software, operations, and disaster recovery. (Pref)
- Thorough understanding of how programs relate to other business strategies; ability to integrate critical information across disciplines. (Req)
- Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate with executive-level management regularly. (Req)
- Experience analyzing highly complex projects with broad institutional impact; ability to manage project progress within time and budget constraints. (Req)
- Ability to work in a highly collaborative manner. (Req)
- Exposure to managing projects with infrastructure/hosting/cloud platform elements. (Req)
- Strong knowledge of data, financial and reporting systems, information flow, and data architecture; competency in query functions and basic data modeling. (Req)
- Project Management Professional (PMP) certification preferred. (Pref)
- 5+ years of experience managing projects in enterprise applications. (Req)
- Minimum 5+ years of related experience. (Req)
Education Licenses and Certifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in a related area and/or equivalent experience/training. (Req)
- Professional certification (PMP, Scrum Master) (Pref)
