Job Title: Toxicologist

Location; Columbus, Ohio (Remote Opportunity)

Client:  Healthcare

Start Date: ASAP

Duration: 6 Month Contract

Our healthcare client in Columbus, Ohio is looking for a experienced toxicologist to support various government environmental health projects, especially in the areas of ecotoxicology, aquatic, avian, invertebrate, and mammalian toxicology; in vitro and/or in silico methods; the study of potential endocrine disrupting chemicals; and the study of environmental toxins.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Ph.D. in toxicology or equivalent degree in endocrinology/ecology/physiology
  • More than 5 years of professional experience in eco/environmental toxicology, laboratory toxicology, or hazard/tox risk assessment
  • Proven expertise in environmental health and hazards, exposure, and risks of toxic substances
  • Familiarity with principles of systematic literature reviews and data extraction
  • Familiarity with working in accordance with quality control and quality assurance management programs
  • Evidence of strong writing, editing, and oral communication skills
  • Experience writing original scientific reports to client specifications, and reviewing and editing the scientific writing of others as a peer or collaborator
  • Authorship or co-authorship of more than 5 toxicology articles in peer-reviewed literature or equivalent papers, conference presentations, or posters in recognized forums
  • Proven expertise in playing a leading role in a dynamic, collaborative environment while meeting client schedules

Desired Qualifications:

  • Certification as Diplomate of the American Board of Toxicology (DABT) or equivalent in a relevant discipline
  • Familiarity with U.S. Environmental Protection Agency contracting
  • Experience using Evidence Partners Distiller software for literature reviews
  • Experience using EPA HERO database and EndNote bibliographic software or equivalent
  • Familiarity with U.S. EPA and OECD test guideline studies for toxicology and endocrine disruption
  • Experience in developmental and reproductive toxicology
  • Experience as Study Director or toxicology discipline leader for in vivo or in vitro studies under Good Laboratory Practices regulations
  • Proven experience in successfully leading research projects, setting and achieving goals, working with peers, and meeting budgets
  • Familiarity with concepts and practices in computational toxicology and high-throughput laboratory methods for evaluating chemical hazards and risks
  • Formal training in environmental science, environmental health, epidemiology, physiology, and/or human health effects
