Role: Technical Program Manager – Digital Pathology
Duration: 9+ Months
Location: Remote (ocassional travel to sites required)
We are seeking a highly visible consultant to provide both technical and project leadership for the replacement of a mission-critical Digital Pathology solution. In this role, the consultant will take ownership of one or more program workstreams, collaborating closely with the Program Technical Leader and Project Manager(s).
Key responsibilities include leading the execution of assigned workstreams, driving the completion of technical and functional requirements from vendor proposal through solution delivery, in close partnership with PM(s). The consultant will work closely with the Program Technical Leader to translate program goals into clear work instructions for junior engineers. As a core member of the program team, the engineer will engage with cross-functional teams, including Pathology, Histology, IT, QA, LIMS Integration, Finance, Service Operations, Legal, and Contracts Management, ensuring alignment and smooth communication across all stakeholders.
The ideal candidate will have experience in procuring and implementing clinical information systems and/or clinical imaging systems such as Digital Pathology, Radiology PACS, Cardiology PACS, and LIMS/LIS. A strong understanding of clinical workflows and data flows is essential. Excellent stakeholder engagement, organizational skills, and the ability to communicate effectively are critical to success in this role.
Preferred Experience and Skills:
- Proven experience procuring vendor-developed custom software and medical imaging systems compliant with CAP/CLIA/FDA regulations.
- Experience with systems integration in a clinical setting.
- Strong understanding of pre-analytical clinical laboratory operations.
- Expertise in clinical sample accessioning procedures.
- Familiarity with histology processes and techniques (tissue handling, sectioning, staining, analysis).
- Knowledge of digital pathology technologies and image analysis tools to drive process improvements.
- Technical proficiency and experience with laboratory automation, system development, and integration.
- Experience working in CAP/CLIA or other regulated production environments.
- Proficiency with databases, laboratory information management systems (LIMS), and file management applications.
- Lean Six Sigma training or project certification.
- Expertise in large-scale data migration to new systems, ensuring data integrity throughout the process.
