Description:  

This role will cover a wide variety of job tasks and duties in varied settings throughout Kentucky, which include inspecting and licensing childcare and healthcare facilities and services, and conducting investigations of complaints in those facilities, as well as conducting Medicaid fraud and other types of complaints for the Cabinet.

Job Duties: 

  • Conduct inspections of healthcare facilities and services for licensure and certification purposes. 
  • Investigate complaints of regulatory violations in healthcare facilities. 
  • Participate in conferences, webinars, and other types of mandatory and optional training to improve knowledge and skills related to regulation of healthcare facilities. 
  • Create written documents detailing findings of non-compliance in healthcare facilities and descriptions of information gathered and final determinations related to complaint investigations. 
  • Prepare comprehensive reports and submit completed and correct packets. 
  • Participate in conferences, webinars, and other types of mandatory and optional training to improve knowledge and skills related to regulation of healthcare facilities. 
  • Other duties as assigned. 

Preferred Skills and Abilities: 

  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively and respectfully with people of diverse backgrounds and in diverse settings. 
  • Ability to be flexible with work schedules, work assignments, and overtime needs. 
  • Experience working in the healthcare field, preferably in a healthcare facility or service. 
  • Excellent writing and speaking skills. 
  • Proficiency with use of computers, tablets, smart phones for daily tasks. 
  • Ability to travel and overnight stays as needed, mostly in Kentucky. Rare occasions of travel to other states may be required. 
  • Physical ability and energy to traverse large healthcare facilities for extended periods of time during surveys and inspections. 

EDUCATION: Graduate of a college or university with a bachelor’s degree. 

 

EXPERIENCE, TRAINING, OR SKILLS: Two years of professional experience in emergency medical services, a health/human services program, or two years of experience in inspection/investigative work or a combination of both or a related field. 

 

Substitute EDUCATION for EXPERIENCE: Additional professional training in health services, human services, social work, or a related field will substitute for the experience on a year for year basis. 

 

Substitute EXPERIENCE for EDUCATION: Additional experience in the above fields, or a related field, will substitute for the required college on a year for year basis.
