DAY TO DAY
Under the direct supervision of the designated Public Health Region I designee/manager and the medical supervision of the Regional Medical Director, provides advanced (senior-level) vocational nursing work. Duties include reviewing documentation for accuracy, screening patient records and verifying completeness, administering vaccines as set forth in standing delegation orders, observation of patient for potential adverse effects/unusual symptoms, updating and maintaining clinic records to include documentation of vaccine history, vaccine administration, consent forms, and other immunizations/COVID-19 required guidelines. Additional duties include data entry, preparing and completing reports which involves providing for the care, treatment, and general welfare of patients. Works under limited supervision, with considerable latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment.

May serve as a lead worker providing direction to others. Works under general supervision, with moderate latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment.
EXAMPLES OF WORK PERFORMED
Oversees the preparation and maintenance of patient records and reports, and reviews documentation for completeness. Evaluates nursing intervention outcomes, and confers with other health care team members as necessary. Coordinates and monitors quality assurance programs. Develops and coordinates in-service training and educational programs. Administers medication orally, rectally, internally, or by injection. Monitors patients before, during, and after treatments and procedures. Monitors patients’ vital signs, and documents and records observations and results. Collects specimens for laboratory examination and performs routine laboratory tests on samples. Conducts appropriate screening tests. Maintains records pertaining to medication, deaths, illnesses, and the transfer of patients. Participates in conducting therapeutic programs. May serve as a lead worker providing direction to others. Performs related work as assigned.
GENERAL QUALIFICATION GUIDELINES EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION
Experience in nursing work. Graduation from a standard senior high school or equivalent or from an approved vocational or practical nursing education program is generally preferred. Experience and education may be substituted for one another.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
Knowledge of nursing procedures and techniques, and of the principles and processes used in providing appropriate patient care. Skill in using reasoning to identify problems, in considering appropriate resolution of situations, and in the use of a computer and applicable software. Ability to provide patient medical care, to prepare and maintain records, to communicate effectively, and to serve as a lead worker providing direction to others.
