Laboratory Technician

Location: Boston, MA

Shift: 2nd Shift (3pm-11pm)

Duration: 6 Month Contract w/ chance of extension

 

Job Description:

Our healthcare client in Boston is one of the largest hospital based research programs in the country and a leading hospital in the area. The microbiology team is looking for a Laboratory Technician with PCR experience to assist with COVID-19 sample collection and the processing of samples in the department. Minimum Qualifications:

  • High school degree required (bachelors in Chemistry, Biology or related science is preferred)
  • 1+ years of experience in a clinical laboratory setting
  • Must have experience with PCR testing
  • Molecular diagnostics or chemistry lab experience preferred

Job Responsibilities:

  • The testing personnel are responsible for specimen processing, test performance and for reporting test results
  • Accountable for receiving, processing, labeling, distributing specimens
  • Performs molecular protocols for diagnostic testing and determines whether results warrant repeating or modification. (i.e. Next Generation Sequencing, PCR, Sanger sequencing, etc.)
  • Communicates and collaborates effectively; includes information regarding problem solving with specimens, test cancellations, testing requirements, billing requirements with various hospital staff
  • Demonstrates an ability to learn the job duties assigned to the hospital and develops an understanding of the company processes, compliance policies, test ordering information, computer system
  • Prepare laboratory specimens for analysis and testing
  • Properly prepare and store excess specimen samples
