Job Title: Global Medical Affairs Strategy Lead – Cardiovascular
Location: Raritan, NJ (Hybrid – Onsite 1–3 days/week)
Engagement Type: Long-term contract (1–2 years with potential for extension)
Position Summary:
We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Global Medical Affairs Strategy Lead (GMAL) to support a high-priority cardiovascular program in the pre-launch phase. This role focuses on strategic leadership across one or more indications for a major compound in development, sitting at the center of clinical-commercial optimization, scientific engagement, and global cross-functional alignment.
The GMAL will lead medical affairs strategy development and execution for a key indication, while collaborating across Clinical Development, Commercial, Regulatory, and Regional Medical Affairs to ensure a unified global medical voice. This is a high-visibility, alliance-facing role, working closely with BMS and internal teams to prepare for a successful launch and long-term life cycle management.
Key Responsibilities:
Strategic Leadership & Compound Development
- Lead the development of the Global Medical Affairs (GMA) strategy and integrated medical plan for one of the compound’s indications
- Represent the global medical perspective on compound development, launch planning, and life cycle strategy
- Sit on the Compound Development Team (CDT) to ensure alignment across Clinical, Regulatory, Commercial, and HEOR
- Collaborate with the Head of Cardiovascular and fellow GMALs to integrate indication-level plans into the broader compound strategy
Cross-Functional & Alliance Collaboration
- Act as the medical lead in the alliance between our client and another large pharma company, partnering with peers across companies to align on joint development goals
- Lead global scientific alignment across internal stakeholders (Clinical, HEOR, Commercial, Regional Med Affairs, Safety, and Legal/Compliance)
- Serve as a strategic medical voice across working groups, brand teams, and governance forums
Medical Execution & External Engagement
- Lead pre-launch medical activities, including global advisory boards, scientific congresses, symposia, and external engagement
- Develop and oversee the global publication strategy in alignment with scientific objectives
- Support authorship and review of medical sections of risk/benefit documentation and periodic safety reports
- Collaborate with regional teams to ensure two-way communication and successful implementation of global strategy at the local level
- Act as a medical spokesperson to external audiences (e.g., KOLs, investigators, congress attendees)
Qualifications & Experience:
- Advanced scientific/medical degree (MD, PharmD, PhD) preferred
- 8–10+ years of experience in industry and/or academic/clinical settings, with at least 5 years in Medical Affairs roles
- Strong knowledge of cardiovascular disease areas (AFib, ACS, thrombosis) highly preferred
- Demonstrated success in leading global, cross-functional teams and working in strategic alliances
- Expertise in launch planning, scientific storytelling, external engagement, and medical strategy development
- Familiarity with clinical methodology, study data review, evidence generation planning, and real-world data concepts
- Experience with medical governance, publication planning, risk-benefit assessments, and regulatory collaboration
- Global mindset and ability to work cross-culturally and cross-regionally
- Strong interpersonal skills: must enjoy collaboration, adaptability, and high interaction
