Overview:
Our large Health System client is looking for someone with Clinical Trial experience to join their Finance department. The Clinical Research Finance Director will oversee all financial aspects of clinical research projects within the organization. This role requires a deep understanding of both clinical research operations and financial management principles to ensure the successful execution of projects.
Responsibilities:
- Financial Planning and Budgeting:
- Develop, implement, and manage financial plans and budgets for clinical research projects, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and objectives.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to forecast resource requirements and develop comprehensive project budgets.
- Financial Analysis and Reporting:
- Conduct financial analysis to monitor project financial performance, identify trends, and forecast future financial outcomes.
- Prepare and present regular financial reports to senior management, highlighting key findings and recommendations for optimization.
- Cost Management:
- Monitor project expenses and identify opportunities for cost containment and efficiency improvements.
- Implement strategies to optimize resource allocation and utilization while maintaining quality standards.
- Compliance and Regulatory Oversight:
- Ensure compliance with financial regulations, sponsor requirements, and institutional policies governing clinical research finances.
- Collaborate with regulatory affairs and compliance teams to address financial compliance issues and mitigate risks.
- Contract Negotiation and Management:
- Negotiate financial terms and conditions with sponsors, vendors, and other stakeholders to maximize revenue and minimize financial risks.
- Manage contract lifecycle from initiation to closure, ensuring adherence to financial terms and milestones.
- Revenue Generation and Billing:
- Oversee billing processes and revenue recognition for clinical research activities, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
- Develop strategies to optimize revenue generation and reimbursement for research-related services.
- Stakeholder Engagement:
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders such as principal investigators, research coordinators, and finance team members to ensure alignment of financial goals with research objectives.
- Serve as a liaison with external stakeholders including sponsors, regulatory agencies, and auditors on financial matters related to clinical research projects.
- Continuous Improvement:
- Identify opportunities for process improvement and implement best practices to enhance financial operations efficiency and effectiveness.
- Stay abreast of industry trends, regulatory changes, and emerging technologies in clinical research finance.
QUALIFICATIONS:
· Bachelor’s degree (required) or master’s degree (preferred) in public administration, business, finance or other appropriate discipline with at least 5-7 years of relevant financial and grants management experience, or a combination of comparable education and experience
- Experience with research finance at an academic medical center or similar institution
- Experience with Workday
