Position: PACS Engineer

Client: Large Catholic Healthcare Provider

Location: Indianapolis, Indiana

Type: Contract

Duration: 8-weeks

Start Date: May 19th

Location: On-site

Job Description: Our healthcare client in Indianapolis, Indiana is looking for Imaging Technicians who can help support the pre-assessment phase of a large PACS implementation project. Will need reliable individuals that can be on-site to perform site inventory, workflow configuration, site observations workflows, and workflow observations. This will be on-site with a larger team and travel is required.

Essential Functions:

  • Maintain, configure, and upgrade PACS software and servers.
  • Manage storage systems (onsite and cloud) for medical images.
  • Ensure high system availability, performance, and disaster recovery readiness.
  • Integrate PACS with Radiology Information Systems (RIS), Electronic Health Records (EHR), and modalities (MRI, CT, etc.).
  • Configure DICOM routing rules, modality worklists, and HL7 interfaces.
  • Troubleshoot data mismatches, order discrepancies, and image routing failures.
  • Resolve issues related to image acquisition, storage, retrieval, and viewing.
  • Support radiologists, technologists, and physicians in image access and viewer performance.
  • Escalate vendor issues when necessary and manage service tickets.

Desired Qualifications:  

  • Minimum of Associates of Applied Sciences Degree in related field of medical electronics, electronic technology, imaging service technology or equivalent related military training and experience. 
  • Two or more years of equivalent experience performing corrective and planned maintenance on Radiology Equipment.
  • Must possess specialized training by manufacturer or third party equipment repair in such areas as CT, MRI, nuclear medicine, diagnostic x-ray, therapeutic x-ray, ultrasound, or radiation therapy equipment.
  • Maintain up-to-date understanding of The Joint Commission and NFPA standards as well as state and federal regulations.

 

Day to Day

  • Responsible for the intersection of imaging technology, IT infrastructure, and clinical workflows.

Education and Work Experience

  • Associates degree in a technical/electronics field or equivalent military training required
  • Bachelors degree in electrical engineering or engineering technology preferred
  • Minimum 3-5 years experience in the repair, maintenance, troubleshooting, and installation of medical
  • Imaging equipment OR 4+ years experience working with complex electrical systems
