Associate Medical Director – Spinal Muscular Atrophy (SMA)

Focus: RWE Operations & Research Execution

About the Role

We’re seeking an Associate Medical Director with proven hands-on research and publications experience to lead the operational execution of a global Phase 4 Real-World Evidence (RWE) study in Spinal Muscular Atrophy (SMA). Reporting to the Global Medical Lead, you’ll oversee study logistics, contribute to protocol development, and ensure research activities are executed to high scientific and operational standards.

This role is ideal for someone with a strong background in research methods and evidence generation, including authorship on peer-reviewed publications or abstracts.

Key Responsibilities

  • Drive day-to-day operations of a global Phase 4 RWE study
  • Develop and support protocols, study manuals, and operational plans
  • Apply research expertise to maintain scientific quality and executional rigor
  • Support advisory board planning and insight gathering
  • Collaborate with global and affiliate teams to support study rollout
  • Contribute to scientific communications, including abstracts and manuscripts

Qualifications

  • Advanced degree: PharmD, MPH, PhD, or MD; postdoctoral or fellowship experience strongly preferred
  • 3–6 years of experience in HEOR, RWE, medical affairs, or clinical research
  • Demonstrated publication record—authorship on peer-reviewed manuscripts, abstracts, or posters
  • Proven experience with study design, protocol development, and execution
  • Background in rare disease or neurology preferred; SMA experience a strong plus
  • Excellent organizational, communication, and project coordination skills
